Objectives
Among the various forms of renewable energy that is being experimented, tapping of solar energy to produce electricity – by photovoltaic systems as well as the solar thermal approach - is one of the most popular forms. The geographical location and climate of India makes it ideal for harnessing solar energy for generating electricity. The Government of India, in view of the global climate challenges and the Indian reality of needing to improve the quality of life of all its citizens, has come up with a clear policy statement on the way forward. After the announcement of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, a large number of Solar Power Plants are being setup commercially in private sector. These plants are well spread over in the different parts of the country. It is therefore, there is a need to give the training to the owners/developers, consultants and financial institutions etc. for techno-economic viability of the projects in Indian conditions.
